That's not an issue as she is easily killed, and the player is incentivized to kill her because of her support magic. So if you want the story to not deviate, you need to make sure that zombie Aerith is defeated in the battle.
If the player kills zombie Aerith during the battle, Aerith stays dead as she was in the original game. If the player defeats Jenova while keeping zombie Aerith alive during battle, Aerith will be "revived" after the battle. In the battle against Jenova, Jenova will bring back Aerith as zombie to help it fight the player.
The way New Threat 2.0 does it is during a boss battle right after Aerith gets killed by Sephiroth. New Threat allows players to keep Aerith alive. There's only one thing that you need to keep in mind in regard to the story + New Threat: So do NOT play Game Type B as your first playthrough.ĪnansiThePersona also played New Threat last year after I recommended it to him and he loved it. Game Type B, on the other hand, is perfect for a subsequent playthrough as it goes buck wild with brand new bosses and enemies throughout the whole game.
